Thomas Rhett announced that his seventh album will be coming out this summer. Titled “About a Woman,” the collection comes out August 23, and includes Rhett’s new single, “Beautiful As You.” Of the 14-track album, Rhett co-wrote on 13 of them and says, “From top to bottom, I wanted to exude joy and fun with this project—and really just make people move,” he says. “I went into making this record with a fearless attitude, put my blinders and my head down to try to make really fun music,” He then added, “I feel like if you were to ask me what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife, and it gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways.”
Thomas channeled some classic songs to create a few of the songs on the new album. He incorporated the Whitney Houston hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” on the track “Don’t Wanna Dance.” Also the track “Back to Blue” is somewhat of an expansion of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s classic “Fishin’ In The Dark”
There won’t be as many ballads on this album and for a reason, he says his kids aren’t fans of ballads. “I started this record last April with the mission of making my kids want to be able to dance — not that they haven’t on my last records, but they like to skip the ballads,” he joked. “We put one ballad on this project, which is like five less than I normally have ever done.”
