Luke Combs is making the most of his time off the road, and the country superstar has plenty to celebrate.
After wrapping up his massive 2026 stadium tour, Combs headed to the mountains of Utah for an elk hunt with Jason Phelps of Phelps Game Calls, where he revealed he’s officially down 30 pounds—a milestone that’s been years in the making.
Appearing in Leupold Optics’ new hunting film Days Like These, Combs joked about his weight loss, saying, “I’m down 30 pounds… probably can’t tell because the camera adds 30 pounds.” But the slimmer look is hard to miss.
While getting healthier has always been the ultimate goal, Combs admitted preparing for physically demanding hunting trips has been one of his biggest motivations.
“Obviously getting healthy is the main goal, but this has been one of the big motivators for me,” Combs said. “I got up and down with the guys in New Mexico enough to get by, but I really wanted to be able to hold my own out here and not half-a– anything. I want to earn it.”
The trip also gave Combs a chance to finish what he started. During a previous elk hunt in New Mexico, he went home empty-handed after passing on several bulls. This time, after patiently waiting for the right opportunity, he successfully harvested his first mature six-point bull elk.
One of the most memorable moments came after the successful hunt. Rather than celebrating immediately, Combs gathered the group for a prayer, thanking God for the experience, his friends, and the animal that would provide food. He then FaceTimed his wife, Nicole, to share the exciting news before ending the call with a simple, “I love you and I miss you, babe.”
For Combs, however, the weight loss goes far beyond hunting.
The father of three has spoken openly for years about his lifelong struggle with weight, saying becoming a dad completely changed his perspective. Instead of focusing on appearances, he wants to make sure he’s healthy enough to keep up with his sons as they grow older—even if that means climbing mountains with them someday.
That goal is clearly paying off. Thirty pounds lighter, Combs checked another item off his bucket list with his first mature bull elk and proved that his commitment to getting healthier is helping him enjoy the moments that matter most—time outdoors with friends and family.
For one of country music’s biggest stars, it wasn’t just about bringing home a trophy. It was another milestone in a journey that’s become much bigger than the hunt itself.
