Country star Riley Green is headed to primetime TV this fall as a first-time coach on Season 30 of The Voice. Green will join returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine, replacing John Legend on the panel. NBC has not yet announced the fourth coach for the upcoming season.
Green revealed the news on social media with a playful post that read, “I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall.” The announcement also featured a voicemail from Clarkson welcoming him to the show and jokingly warning him about the competition.
“We have never officially met… I am super stoked to coach alongside you,” Clarkson said, adding that she’s a longtime fan of his music. She also teased Green by saying Team Kelly would “whoop that ass,” before surprising him with a personalized red coaching chair to help him prepare for the show.
The custom chair, decorated with duck calls in honor of Green’s outdoorsman image, gave fans their first look at him stepping into his new role. Sitting in the chair aboard his tour bus, Green joked, “I could get used to this!”
The coaching gig adds to Green’s growing TV presence. In addition to his music career — which includes hits like “There Was This Girl,” “I Wish Grandpas Never Died,” and “Different ‘Round Here” with Luke Combs — he recently appeared in a multi-episode arc on Marshals.
