Jelly Roll‘s weight loss journey has been nothing short of remarkable, but it hasn’t come without the occasional setback. From well over 500 pounds to sub-300, his wellness path has been inspirational for millions. One thing Jelly always seems to do is keep it honest. Case in point, his latest YouTube vlog, in which he goes backstage at the WWE and talks about his fitness goals. In a moment of vulnerability, the singer talks about easing up on the throttle once he achieved his goal of appearing on the cover of “Men’s Health” magazine. Around the holidays, he said, “I ate a big Thanksgiving meal and I ate a big birthday meal and I ate a big Christmas meal…and I kinda got off the rails.” While Jelly Roll may have intended for that to be a short break, luck had other plans, and he broke his collarbone in an ATV accident which sidelined him from physical activity for a considerable amount of time.

Fast forward to now, and Jelly experienced something all people trying to lose weight go through: the fear of the scale. As Jelly put it, “I haven’t weighed in. I’ve been avoiding the scale.” In the video, he faces his fear and steps on the scale: 277.2 pounds, up 12 pounds from the day of his cover shoot for “Men’s Health.” While it was momentarily disappointing, the singer is using it as motivation towards his new goal. “We set the new goal of training for the New York City Marathon in November,” he says in the video. “I wanna get these last 40 or 50 pounds off. And then I eventually wanna cut my skin (undergo excess skin removal).” Check out Jelly’s video (CAREFUL! NSFW LANGUAGE!)
