After more than a year away from releasing new music, Tim McGraw is making his return with two new songs, “Song for America” and “Pawn Shop Guitar.”

McGraw says the music was inspired by a difficult period in his life after being sidelined by back and knee issues. While the recovery process was challenging, he says it also gave him time to reflect, write, and explore more personal stories in his songwriting.

“It’s no secret that over the last few years I got sidelined with back and knee issues,” McGraw shared. “That time was challenging on so many levels, but one of the positive things that came out of it, aside from physically being back to 100%, was that it gave me time to reflect on my life and to write songs.”

The patriotic “Song for America” was released in celebration of the nation’s upcoming 250th birthday, while the autobiographical “Pawn Shop Guitar” serves as both a new song and the title of McGraw’s upcoming tour.

The Pawn Shop Guitar Tour kicks off July 9 in Bethel, New York, with support from The Chicks, Lady A, 49 Winchester, and Timothy Wayne. The new music arrives as McGraw prepares for another major milestone in his career: his upcoming induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
