This September Toby Keith will be receiving the first-ever “Country Icon” award at the 2023 “People’s Choice Country Awards.” This great honor will be given to him by fellow Oklahoman Blake Shelton.
This honor shouldn’t be a shock to anyone. Toby Keith has had a decades-long career in country music. With 42-top 10 hits, 32 #1 singles, and has sold 40 million albums. Toby Keith is more than a singer and songwriter. He is a philanthropist and entrepreneur.
Back in 2021, Toby Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Since last year he has undergone chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery to treat this. He is not out of the woods yet but is recovering.
We can see Toby accept this award on Thursday, September 28th during the 1st ever “People’s Choice Country Awards” that will air at 7pm CST on NBC and Peacock. Little Big Town will be hosting the show from the Grand Ole Opry House.
