We are living in a time when artists are more vulnerable than ever… They seem to share more and more of their personal lives in their music, even causing what seem to be back-and-forth diss tracks in some cases.
While artists like young T-Swift (you know, when she was kinda country) and Carrie Underwood have dropped some iconic break-up ballads over the years, neither seemed to hint at a particular individual with their tracks.
That seems to have changed…
After her divorce from fellow artist Michael Ray in 2020, Carly Pearce wasn’t shy in talking about the divorce… especially through her music. She’s dropped chart-topping and award-winning hits like, “What He Didn’t Do” and “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” while Ray has stayed quiet.
Well… Until now.
I won’t lie… Michael’s music video for his new hit, “Get Her Back,” could be taken as a little morbid, only because, well, the main character is a dead ringer for Carly AND she dies in the video. So, there’s that.
With that being said, the lyrics and the quality of the music video may stir up some three-year-old wounds between the two. Time will tell what the reaction will be… From the fans, and from Pearce herself.
