We were getting all into spooky season this morning, sharing our most spine-shivering ghost stories (thanks to everyone who called to share their stories, too!).
All the creepy sharing, as well as some tips from locals, forced us down a rabbit hole of the most haunted places in the Stevens Point area.
We got a few calls about Club Forest Bar in Plover… As legend has it, back in the day, the bar used to be a brothel. A male barkeep was killed in the bar by a patron after defending one of the ladies who was being hassled by said patron.
One caller, Vern, shared his own experience at the bar, saying a bartender told him and a few other customers it was time to head out one night, because, “he’s here.” The bartender was apparently referring to the ghost of the dead barkeep, saying, “he doesn’t like men and he’s throwing around chairs and making the lights flicker.” Needless to say, Vern and the other patrons decided it was best to leave.
We were also tipped off by another listener, Nick, who told us to check out the story of the “Bloody Bride Bridge” near highway 66 and Jordan Park. This legend begins with a bride dying in a horrific car accident the night of her wedding. As the story goes, she still frequents the bridge where she perished, donning the same bloody wedding dress she was said to have died in.
The story gets spookier… a cop passing the infamous bridge thought he hit a woman one night, so he got out of his car to help her. Much to his surprise, there as no one there. But when he got back into his car, he got the scare of his life… He made eye contact with a bloody woman in his back seat!
Nick says he and some friends sat in their car on the bridge one night and handprints started to appear on the windows! SPOOKY!!
