What was supposed to be a fun day on the golf course turned into a trip to the hospital for Kane Brown.
The country superstar revealed that he suffered a serious injury after being struck in the head by a golf ball while golfing with a friend. The accident left Brown with a concussion, required 23 stitches, and forced him to miss a scheduled performance at the annual Tight End University concert in Nashville.
Brown shared details of the incident in a since-deleted Instagram video, explaining that his friend was hitting a shot from nearby when a sliced 3-wood came flying toward him at an estimated 150 to 180 miles per hour.
“I had just enough time to turn my head,” Brown said, noting that the ball struck him in the ear. Looking back on the accident, he realizes how fortunate he was.
“A few inches forward or backward, and I wouldn’t be here,” he added.
After being rushed to the hospital, Brown received 23 stitches and was diagnosed with a slight concussion. He later shared photos of the injury on social media, telling fans, “They said it will probably get worse in the next 48 hours, but I’m alive and that’s all that matters. Holy crap.”
The injury also forced Brown to cancel his appearance at the Tight Ends & Friends concert, part of the annual Tight End University event founded by NFL stars Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Greg Olsen. The three-day Nashville gathering brings together current and former NFL tight ends for training, film study, and community events, while the concert has become one of the week’s biggest attractions.
During Tuesday night’s show, podcast hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan broke the news to fans that Brown would be unable to perform. Compton jokingly noted that “football guys” might not believe someone could suffer a concussion from golf before assuring the crowd that Brown was okay.
Brown was originally scheduled to fly to Wisconsin for a June 25 performance at Hoofbeat Country Fest in Cadott, but because of concerns about air pressure affecting his injured ear, he planned to travel by bus instead.
“I guess technically the best possible place it could have hit me,” Brown said. “But yeah, I’m just glad I’m here.”
Despite Brown’s absence, the Tight End University concert still delivered a memorable surprise. Country star Lainey Wilson brought out Taylor Swift for an unannounced performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Swift told fans that George Kittle had requested the song and joined Wilson for a performance of her 2008 hit “Love Story.” The appearance marked Swift’s second straight year making a surprise appearance at the event after joining Brown on stage in 2025 for a performance of “Shake It Off.”
While fans were disappointed to miss Brown’s performance, most were simply relieved that the accident wasn’t far worse. Given the speed of the golf ball and how close he was to the shot, Brown’s injury could have been catastrophic.
For now, the singer is focused on recovery and getting back on stage as soon as possible. With upcoming performances scheduled in Wisconsin and at Country Thunder Alberta, fans are hoping the stitches heal quickly and that Brown makes a full recovery.
