Thomas Rhett is bringing a piece of home to one of golf’s biggest stages. The Georgia native has recorded the timeless classic “Georgia On My Mind” as part of ESPN’s official campaign for the The Masters Tournament, which takes place April 9–12 in Augusta.
Originally written by Hoagy Carmichael in 1930 and made iconic by Ray Charles in 1960, the song has long been tied to the identity of Georgia. Rhett’s version leans into that legacy, offering a more reflective take that highlights both the melody and the deep sense of home associated with the track.
“Recording ‘Georgia On My Mind’ was a pretty surreal moment for me,” Rhett shared. “Being from Georgia, sports and music are both just in my blood. Obviously, nobody can touch the original, but it meant a lot to me to be asked to honor both the song and tradition of the Masters.”
A behind-the-scenes look at the recording shows Rhett embracing that connection, tying one of the state’s most recognizable songs to one of its most iconic annual events. The result is a natural crossover between music and golf, rooted in tradition and familiarity.
Beyond the Masters, Rhett is gearing up for a busy year on the road. His upcoming “Soundtrack To Life Tour” will include stadium shows with Niall Horan, dates alongside Morgan Wallen, and a return to the U.K. for a three-night run at Wembley Stadium with Luke Combs.
For fans of country music and golf alike, Rhett’s take on “Georgia On My Mind” serves as a fitting tribute—blending place, tradition, and a modern voice just in time for one of spring’s biggest events.
