Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, is having fun with the speculation surrounding the gender of the couple’s fifth child. In a recent TikTok shared by the country singer, Akins jokingly suggested the baby might be a boy while joining her husband on a duck-hunting outing.
The video showed Akins dressed in full camouflage as she tagged along for the hunt, prompting Rhett to capture the moment for social media. Laughing, Akins quipped, “I just thought it’d be really memorable to take our son hunting for the first time — I’m assuming it’s a boy.” She immediately followed up the comment with laughter, adding, “That was the baby reveal. That was the gender reveal right there,” making it clear she was joking.
Akins then clarified that the couple does not yet know the baby’s gender. Still, she leaned into the moment, teasing that the experience gave off “lots of boy energy,” especially after a bird was shot and feathers floated through the air. “It was like snowing feathers,” she said, laughing as she described the scene.
Rhett has also leaned into the playful guessing game. In a recent Instagram post, he shared a humorous photo of himself wearing a pink hat, a headband with teddy bear ears, pink sunglasses, and holding a blue wand topped with a shimmering star. “Y’all think this next one is a boy?” he wrote in the caption, further fueling fan speculation.

Perhaps the first hint that started fueling all of the assumptions came right after Thanksgiving when Thomas uploaded a video of Lauren decorating the family Christmas Tree and Lauren stated that there was “too much blue” on the tree.

The couple, who have been married since 2012, are already parents to four daughters: Willa Gray, 10; Ada James, 8; Lennon Love, 5; and Lillie Carolina, 3. As they prepare to welcome Baby No. 5, Rhett and Akins appear to be enjoying every moment of the anticipation, keeping fans entertained with their lighthearted approach to the big reveal.
