Sesame Street, a beloved childhood staple for generations, is kicking off its 55th season on Thursday, January 16th on MAX. This milestone season promises an exciting lineup of musical guests, including country music giant Chris Stapleton.

Elmo, the show’s iconic red Muppet, is brimming with anticipation: “There’s a lot to learn from music, yeah timing and harmonies and melody and different styles and different cultures,” he shared.

Joining Stapleton on this season’s musical journey are Renee Rapp, SZA, Noah Kahan, and many more. Stapleton, in particular, showed a deep commitment to the project, writing an original song specifically for Sesame Street. “It was really one of the most surreal two-hour Zooms that I really ever had in my life,” recalled Bill Sherman, the show’s music director, describing Stapleton’s creative process. Chris will be on the July 24th episode.

Throughout its five decades, Sesame Street has boasted an impressive roster of musical talent. But who would Elmo most love to see grace the set? “Miss Taylor Swift! Maybe she could revisit her ‘Red’ era since that is his favorite album of hers,” he enthused. He also expressed a desire to see Beyoncé return to the show, following her previous appearance with Destiny’s Child.

For those without a MAX subscription, fear not! These new episodes will air on PBS in the fall and be available for streaming on PBS Kids.
