Lainey Wilson stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this week. Jimmy asked her if the rumors he heard were true about her playing in the aisles of Wal-Mart when she started performing country music years ago. Lainey didn’t answer the question directly but reflected on her early career by saying, “I’d play anywhere they would let me play. I’m talking about nursing homes, flatbed trailers . . . my parents would be like, ‘Hey Lainey, sing that song you just wrote last week’ for anybody. And I’d just do it.”
She emphasized her willingness to perform in any setting, big or small, and how supportive her family was in encouraging her to showcase her talents. From humble beginnings, performing for whoever would listen, she worked her way up to the big stage, proving that no gig was too small when chasing her dreams.
Lainey had a pretty interesting set up when sang her song “4x4xU” from her new album “Whirlwind” later in the show. She and her band were seated on couches as they each played instruments and gave a rather chill vibe to the show. Check out her performance below.
