If you know Big Red and I, you know how we feel about AI. Yeah, we don’t care for it much. Could this be an exception? We can’t tell, because we feel slightly duped.
Last week, we told you about Randy Travis’ triumphant return to music with his new single “Where That Came From” over a decade after a stroke drastically changed his life.
Relearning to walk, spell, and read over the years left a lot of country music fans not only praying for him, but wondering if they’d ever hear his iconic sound again.
On Friday, “Where That Came From” hit the airwaves. And yesterday, on “CBS Sunday Morning,” the news broke that it wasn’t all Randy. Well, it was… but it was mainly the help of what’s being dubbed a “Warner AI music experiment.”
It doesn’t take away from the fact that the song is classic Randy… and a great song at that. AND gave a guy who had something terrible happen to him an opportunity to do what he loves again.
We just wish the news of the AI assistance had come out with the original song, instead of this idea that “Randy was back!” So, we feel a little duped.
