Jelly Roll Sued For His Name

By Dana Apr 15, 2024 | 11:44 AM

When you hear the name Jelly Roll, you probably think of the titan taking over the country music world, raking in all of the awards at every award show… And probably not “Philly’s Favorite Wedding Band”.

But, as they say, the bigger you become, the bigger the target on your back. Jelly Roll has been sued for service mark infringement by Kurt L. Titchenell, who’s the founding member of Jellyroll, a wedding band from Philadelphia.

Apparently, Titchenell’s band has “Jellyroll” trademarked, and most recently renewed the trademark in 2019. The suit alleges that by Jelly Roll using the name, it has damaged the band’s ability to get their name out, causing “confusion in the marketplace.”

Hmmm… I’d beg to differ. I’d say Jelly Roll probably gave the band more notoriety than they’ve ever had. What do you think? Is this just a money grab?
