It’s a big moment where a country legend in the making brings a bona fide country legend out on stage to join them. Fans at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma on Friday got to witness such a moment as Lainey Wilson introduced country icon Randy Travis to the crowd.
“I want to introduce to the stage, one of my heroes, one of the reasons I fell in love with country music, a dear friend of mine now…y’all give it up for the one, the only, the country music legend Randy Travis,” Wilson exclaimed as she made her way across the stage to greet the country star and his wife, Mary. She wheeled Travis from the wings to “front and center, right where he belongs,” adding, “My mama and daddy ain’t gonna believe this!”
Wilson went on to explain that she and Travis are friends now, and that Randy shows up at her shows quite often, though she admitted, “…when you have Randy Travis side stage? First of all, that’s a little nerve-wracking, I ain’t gonna lie to you.”
