Every country star has stories of memorable fan encounters, and Ashley McBryde is no different. Recently she was telling the story of one fan who came up to her at Billy Bob’s in Texas and asked for an autograph – on his chest.
This alone is an odd but not uncommon request. Ashley, who has plenty of her own tattoos, knew what was coming and told the obviously drunk fan (he was “buzzin’ like Pawpaw’s cousin,” as she puts it) that she was wary of signing his chest as she knew he was going to get it tattooed.
“So I signed his chest…and the Sharpie didn’t work. So I had to scribble it a bunch of times, so the ‘A’ is all weird and misshapen and totally asymmetrical. And I looked at his friends and said, ‘Do NOT take him to get a tattoo.'” That warning didn’t land with the fans, however.
She went on, “A few hours later, my record rep sent me the photo of the guy…with the worst signature I have ever done, tattooed to his body for the rest of his life.”
