Cody Johnson was part of the All Star line up that paid tribute to the Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. It was an amazing performance that also featured Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Slash (Guns N Roses), Paul Rodgers (Bad Company), Warren Haynes (The Allman Brothers), Wynonna Judd and LeAnn Rimes. The super stars collaborated to play a medley of “Tuesday’s Gone” and “Sweet Home Alabama” to close out the show.
Cody Johnson continues the tribute to the iconic rock n roll group with a FANTASTIC version of their song “The Ballad of Curtis Loew.” He performed the song with just his acoustic guitar and an accompanied fiddle as the 2 musicians are seat by a campfire to really get the mood set just right! His voice and tone are absolutely perfect for the song and the performance is stellar!!
