I think finally now people will stop talking about the mess up that Steve Harvey did at the Miss Universe pageant a few years ago, because what happened at this beauty pageant takes the cakes.
It’s the biggest pageant in Sir Lanka. Pushpika De Silva won the title of Mrs. Sir Lanka, at least she thought she did. Right after it was announced and she was crowned the past winner pulled something out of the movie Miss Congeniality. She took the crown off the winners head and gave it to the first runner up. The reason she gave was because in Sir Lanka you need to be married. She stated that De Silva was divorced. Of course the first runner up was super excited to be crowned…at least for the moment. The former winner stormed off stage in tears. She was also then taken to the hospital for head injuries from the crown being ripped off her heard. Silva also took to social media to set the record straight that she is separated from her husband but not divorced. That she plans to take legal action for the way she was treated.
Pageant organizers did confirm the news and apologized for running her moment and returned the crown and title. They are also looking into the past winner who started.
